Pros

The store hours are better. Hourly pay for a product specialist position is higher than some of the other retailers.

Cons

Bonuses are not paid in cash. Only by Neiman Marcus gift cards. Corporate policies change with the wind. IT technology far behind Nordstrom and Macy's. Health benefits are ok. The out of pocket is high for medical coverage $1500 plus another $600. Really? A Corporation the size of NM couldn't negotiate a better policy. In our store an employee who has had written and substantiated complaints receives no punishment. I am not sure what the maximum number is before management deems it necessary to review. Requesting a transfer to another store is not handled in a timely manner. Some store managers micro manage their department managers to the extent of forcing them to take a stress leave.

Pros

The pay is competitive. However, this will NEVER compensate for what you will endure. I absolutely will regret wasting my time with this company!

Cons

HR is slow to act in regards to performance issues. I brought numerous issues to the table and due to HR dragging their feet, I had the pleasure of enduring retaliation. As a Manager I actually had subordinates leaving crude, anonymous "notes" for me. I was forced to resign due to the unprofessional behaviors in the store. I had associates coming to me with complaints of sexual harassment, retaliation, bullying and much, much more. I spoke daily to HR in regards to these issues. Little to nothing was done. Many of the complainants were scared to go to Corp HR because the biggest bully in the store was the HR manager. Finally, when I resigned, they came forth and discussed their issues because they were upset I was pushed out. The HR manager "resigned" once confronted. I asked to return and they refused to do the right thing and bring me back. So, of I had to be the "casualty" to expose what was really going on then so be it. Unfortunately, the poison the HR Manager spread is throughout that store. They need to clean house!

Pros

Lots of opportunity to advance and ground floor entryway into historic fashion industry with lots of influence, culture, expertise, and history.

Cons

Frequent seasonal cattle-call type hiring processes has allowed some unsavory characters to grab hold of long term positions and not all of them have good intentions towards their new co-workers.
