Pros

Working in a beautiful environment with colleagues that are professional and offer the best customer service. Neiman's has continuously managed the downturn in the economy for creative ways to drive customers back into our stores. Also, Neiman Marcus carries many very exclusive lines that are only available in select Neiman's and Bergdorf's.

Cons

Straight commission has the highest earning potential in retail; however, it can be very tough when you are hit with 'customer returns' and the day-to-day business is down. There are many vacation 'black-out' dates and you must work nights and weekends. If you are not achieving your monthly goal, you are put on probation, and then terminated if you do not achieve your seasonal goal...even if you have worked there for more than ten years.

Pros

Great sample sales, discounts. Relatively flexiable with time off, depends LARGELY on the buyer you work for. Some great people to work with, depending on your area.

Cons

Due to cutbacks, it is an exhausting workload for sub-par money. Pay cuts across all salaried employees plus still rich top exectutives and overworked assitants makes morale very low. Many co-workers are very negative and cut-throat, creating a hostile work enviorment. Just as another reviewer sad, it is not glamourous at all, don't expect to be invited to the fabulous parties NM throws. Paying customers only! You will be in an old, cramped office with two or three other people. Career advancement is very limited. There simply aren't enough positions.

Pros

Great product. Great employee discounts.

Cons

Turnover of top store management was unbearable. Human resources and their inability to handle employee problems efficiently caused frequent stress for managers and associates. Quite a bit of "pass the buck" with senior management.
