Safety: A directive, but not a priority. Employees are demanded to work safe, but are also expected to have the highest production at the lowest time. Integral things like smoke arms, proper lighting, and even maintenance on equipment can take weeks up to months to get done.
Example: One previous employee I know got third degree burns. They made him finish the day before offering to drive him to the hospital and only did that so he wouldn't drive himself.
Benefits: Expensive. Not great. Change often leading to confusion among employees.
Management: You might be pretty well off if you frequent Nordic Lanes with the boys. It's a club. They're all friends disconnected from their own days as a laborer. They expect too much and shift blame to "upper management" when it blows up in their faces. They'd rather stand at the end of a work line with their phones on, snap chatting and timing welders than actually jump in and contribute.
Wages: Your raise comes in the spring. Or maybe summer. Or maybe winter. It always changes. They'll have reviews to knock you down but the good is never rewarded. The complacent workers who have years under their belt are treated better than newcomers coming in who want to work, leading to excessive, unnecessary turn over and that's remedied by hiring back people who were previously fired.
No support for the worker. HR exists, but is split between two locations. Concerns raised often takes weeks for follow up, in which case they just come up with some excuse for why the workers concerns are misplaced. No one trusts the office, there's a severe split.
