      Good benefits and people, chaotic technical leadership

      Pros

      The majority of people at neo4j are enjoyable to interact with and the company benefits are nice

      Cons

      The product is old and serious cracks are showing in the codebase due to some bad decisions made early in development. Priority is given to piling on more features with hacks upon hacks, and technical leads know that their career progression depends on releasing janky features rather than fixing glaring structural problems.

      Pros

      * High performance teams - it's the type of environment I was only hoping I could end up in * Pragmatic attitude to most challenges * Great work/life balance For me as a developer, I find myself consistently challenged without it ever feeling overbearing. Influence over engineering decisions and freedom in how to structure my work and what tools to use.

      Cons

      * Fewer perks than there used to be, such as limited travel, but that is understandable given the circumstances * A scale-up culture which is mostly positive, but can be immature in certain areas such as some parts of developer tooling

      Food! Engineering focused company Poised to be the centre of an explosive growth in the graph DB market space Genuinely exciting tech to work with Emil is awesome Work life balance is fantastic

      Cons

      Salaries on the low side Better bonus and benefits would be nice Swedish flat hierarchy comes with problems when making decisions A lot of people work permanently remote, it's part of company DNA, yet if you're based in an office, management will tell you you cant spend 2 consecutive weeks remotely
