Pros

Developed some great friendships that have outlasted my time at Netskope.

Cons

Culture and Management Issues: - Toxic Work Environment: The prevalence of favoritism, political atmosphere, and backstabbing significantly impact employee well-being. Managers' focus on activity over productivity adds to the stress and dissatisfaction. - Poor Leadership: The presence of unqualified managers who need more coaching and development is a pressing issue. Their authoritarian leadership styles in some departments hinder motivation and engagement. - Unstructured Hiring Process: The lack of clear interview criteria leads to the hiring of underqualified engineers, highlighting the need for a more structured and transparent process. - A Culture of Blame: High levels of blame-shifting, particularly within the sales team. Radical changes are often implemented without follow-through. Employee Treatment and Job Security: - Layoffs and Job Insecurity: Multiple layoffs are made as the company attempts to go public, creating an unstable job environment. This instability negatively impacts employee morale and loyalty, potentially leading to decreased productivity and increased turnover. - No Opportunity for Growth: Hard work often goes unnoticed, with promotions going to managers' former colleagues rather than based on merit. - Poor Performance Review Processes: Lack of standard annual performance reviews and ineffective rewards and recognition processes. - No 401K Match and Bonus Issues: There is no 401K match, and it is difficult to achieve 100% of annual bonuses. Work-Life Balance and Employee Well-being: - Work-Life Balance Issues: Toxic culture and workload make maintaining a healthy work-life balance difficult. This imbalance can lead to burnout, decreased productivity, and increased turnover. Teams in the US receive more priority, which can create a sense of inequality and dissatisfaction among employees. - Mental Health Concerns: Inadequate support for mental health, especially in the post-COVID remote first work setting. Quality and Technological Concerns: - Declining Product Quality: Cost-cutting measures impact the quality of delivered services. The product needs to work for larger customers. - Half-baked Programs: Rollout of incomplete programs and promotions that fail to meet expectations. Technological Lag: The company needs to adopt necessary technological advancements and innovations. IPO and Sales: - Missed IPO Deadlines: Paying attention to IPO deadlines has led to demotivated employees and a drop in stock value. - Sales Culture Issues: Unprofessional and misogynistic sales management, leading to high turnover and dissatisfaction.
