Pros

Excellent money in relation to job role when close to London, plenty of scope to progress and move around the country through the business, perfect environment for those who enjoy team working.

Cons

Lack of training, and the worst organisation and processes I have ever experienced at a company. A lot of team politics when in larger working groups. Poor management, especially man management. I have yet to receive a one-to-one review on my welfare, happiness and progression and I have been with the company for over three years. A lot of hypocrisy in processes whereby management will use health and safety and other limitations only when it suits them. I would recommend working somewhere where the company is looking to grow and progress rather than constantly offset debts as this breeds a culture where people are out for themselves. Also a lot of people in very high positions doing very little for the business. Shift work is only getting worse with the electrification too, so more nights and late notice shift changes.

Thanks for sharing your experience at Network Rail, it was great to read through the pros of working here. You're absolutely right to point out the frustrations and we're working hard to remove bureaucracy through our Putting Passengers First programme. This is providing lots of opportunity for devolved decision making. Please do chat to your line manager or through our Putting Passengers First Yammer group for any suggestions you think could help us to continually improve. Thanks again for your comments.

Pros

Very nice environment, great flexibility and very good organization. Good salary and great attention for health and safety. Nice offices around London.

Cons

Too big company sometimes means long processes and poor dynamics. Difficult interaction between different sectors of the company. Continuous re-shaping of the company.
