Pros

Fascinating and interesting Industry, I would make the most of the industry you work and get to know it so you can truly understand how your role fits in.

Cons

Management structure (non Engineering), many staff have been within the industry for a long time and get promoted through the years of service, many lack the 21st century attitude and indeed lack crucial management skills.

Friendly, not too cut-throat, good conditions, supportive if suffering from illness, good union protections, good salaries, lots of discretionary overtime. Good pensions.

Cons

Inflexible, behind the times, poor management skills at lower levels. Not very creative or innovative.
