Pros

Great environment with real opportunities for prison. Dedicated people with a real belief in the company and the wider industry. Complex, wide ranging projects

Cons

Public sector so there are significant financial constraints and layers of beurocracy which means delivery and change happens slowly. Salaries are going to be affected by recent funding constraints.

Pros

People were ok, if a little frenetic. Support staff all lovely.

Cons

I really couldn't recommend this company. Everyone seemed to hate each other, and kept approaching me, telling me I'd "hate" my new boss/the team leader. On my first day. Really not the way to make a first impression. Would have been lovely if they'd suggested going out for lunch or something, but instead they just kept on and on about how much I was going to "hate" this experience. Also on my first day, the team leader pulled me into a meeting room at 9am and asked really weird questions which would have been more suited to someone coming in as a scientist (not an admin assistant) and talking about completely irrelevant things. Also, I was missold the role. Apparently I was there as a tidyer-upper for someone who'd previously made a mess of things. This had never been relayed to me. The end result was that I had everyone approaching me with piles of papers and work which I "really need to deal with NOW". End result was that I was going into work every day with a nervous tummy. Ended up leaving.

Pros

The people, they are committed to the railways and have many years of experience. Good benefits and job security. Opportunities to move into various roles throughout your career.

Cons

Walking through treacle a lot of the time, too many people in the centre making decisions without consulting the front line staff
