Pros

Great people delivering something very valuable to UK plc, there are such a wide variety of opportunities in so many different vocations and locations across England, Wales and Scotland and best of all the industry is rapidly growing. It is a forward looking cmpany that has historically been resistant to change and still is to a degree but wants to change that.

Cons

Frustration that sometimes it is a little difficult to get things done because of the size and complexity of the organisation.

Pros

You're working for the "core" of the industry, which means you're on the inside looking out.

Cons

Network Rail is based on the HR set-up of Railtrack, which was only supposed to have its own staff and then a workforce of contracted out staff. Now it's all in-house, Network Rail HR just don't have a clue as to how to deal with a full company of staff.
