Pros

Incredible people to work with and great engineering challenges to tackle Good compensation Focus on getting things done the right way while also considering individual needs Great Flexibility in working environment, PTO etc. Welcoming community of people who get things done and enjoy doing it

Cons

The company is still growing and has had some growing pains as a result. Our overall direction could be clearer at times.

Rocket ship taking off

Pros

Across the board there are fantastic, smart, and dedicated people throughout the organization. A lot of turnover that has happened has had a strongly positive effect. The strategic partnerships that the company has in place with Group M and Twitter put the company in an unparalleled position to own the marketplace in a few years. The core technology is truly differentiated and very difficult to recreate without the partnerships we have in place. Offices are comfortable and the perks are good. Generous time off policy and very flexible managers that accommodate home life needs in balance with work. Compensation levels are reasonable to generous.

Cons

People that leave seem to be exceptionally bitter and disingenuous about their time at NI. We still are battling a lot of the challenges of early stage companies because our industry and products are so new. Yet people don't necessarily join with the expectations of working at a startup anymore given how big we are and how long we have been around. Some hires just don't work out because they have difficulty adapting to an environment that has to be fluid and responsive to a rapidly changing industry.

Upper management must be replaced

Pros

Great work/life balance. Great people below upper management level (anything non-VP or "officer"). Some VP level people are good though.

Cons

A few series of layoffs in the past has poisoned the culture. First round of layoffs: configuration analysts to hire more engineers/product Second round of layoffs: engineers/product to hire more sales Perhaps the next round of layoffs will be sales to hire more configuration analysts! This is all due to upper management's poor decisions and laziness. The "officer" level people are truly incompetent and make horrible decisions and barely ever work. VP or higher level people ("upper management") make up about 25% of the company. I feel like everyone is upper management and there aren't enough people who actually do work. I honestly have no idea what my manager's boss (VP level) did at the company. Lastly, the company is not doing well at all. The company size has halved in the last 2 years. Also, pay is low, but that's offset by the great work/life balance in my opinion.
