Pros

Tuition Reimbursement for most programs. Not all. Internal growth only up to a certain level. You cannot get to a senior level position here without knowing somebody. No accountability so you can make mistakes and not be held responsible.

Cons

If you are not at a senior level, your voice will NOT be heard. There are forums to ask anonymous questions but nothing actually comes from it. No raises. No proper IT support. Every department feels siloed. Senior leadership makes a significant amount more than others. No incentive to stay. Health insurance just skyrocketed because too many people are leaving. Senior leadership creates committees so they do not need to get their hands dirty. We use systems that nobody likes to use but the college refuses to upgrade to something the majority of other colleges uses.

Toxic Environment for Educators

Pros

They give you a lot of personal autonomy as an instructor... until they don't.

Cons

Their faculty consists of almost entirely adjuncts The pay is incredibly low, it has not been increased since 2019, and they do not have any interest in raising it for any reason. They would rather you quick than pay you more. The administration is horribly incompetent and unsupportive of faculty. They are suffering financially due to increasingly lower and lower enrollment each year, so they court students who are woefully unprepared for college, and they will do anything to keep those students enrolled, including forcing you to pass them even when you know they are using AI to cheat. They are desperate to keep their athletes because their sports teams are their main source of enrollment, so they will side with athletes over literally anyone. This includes students of marginalized communities who are frequently bullied by the athletes. I witnessed several several trans students get relentlessly bullied and receive no aide from the school, and often, they would even be punished rather than the bullies. Those athletes know the power they wield, and I also witnessed them complain about a trans professor (who was amazing) until the school fired her. They were also sued by the former president for gender-based discrimination, and the new president is a big Trump supporter.
