You get out what you put in

Pros

It's at that interesting stage where they're not a startup so you have more job security, but it's not at a size or age where people and processes are entrenched. People are actively involved in making things better as we grow and mature. They're also invested in growing your career, giving you the opportunity and support to set goals and a plan to achieve them.

Cons

The geographic distribution of the engineering teams makes communication difficult sometimes. When the majority of us are still working on the same code base it gets very territorial.

Pros

Pros: -Stock in a company that has a solid product -Coffee Bar in house -Incredibly easy targets to hit -Nice office with great views -Nice, personable, interesting people overall

Cons

Cons: -Considerably lower pay than industry average. If you didn't get in before the IPO, look elsewhere! You'll likely get paid 25%-30% higher at a similar size/stage company -Toxic culture -Horrible management- can't stress that enough -One manager in middle management has made racial remarks to several people on the team, degrades employees and the company has done nothing to stop this. - Everything is for show: * Office is designed to look like Google to put on the appearance that NR is wildly successfu. Instead of buying 2 non-working iPads for each conference room, maybe you could hire more employees to scale. * Middle management consistently forces you to drop everything you are doing and complete meaningless tasks that will look good to their boss. -Plenty of Director-level employees that are truly incompetent. Our Director genuinely doesn't know how to use Salesforce or even navigate our own product. Some of those same managers typically come in at 10AM and leaves by 3PM. It is difficult to work for managers that you can't respect. -Many employees are scolded for contacting upper management/VP's/Execs. So much for being a 'flat' startup. - We have no clue where the company intends to go until the last minute. - Company values are literally never practiced. - Customers are completely in the dark on feature releases, agent updates, beta's and many other things that are vital to a ensuring that they stay happy.

Great company

Pros

Amazing vision, Incredibly "nice and nerdy" culture, balance is valued Solving hard technical problems Small enough to make a difference, but large enough to have perks of big company, Awesome offices in downtown SF and PDX - views for days...

Cons

Normal growing pains of employees used to the "old way" vs new employees who are used to fast growth companies and constant change.

Thank you for your kind note! And, yes, we are amidst growing pains. Such is the consequence of success. (Just between you and me, I hope we have some growing pains for a long time.) With folks like you ready to work with us through the challenges -- and excitement -- of each stage of growth, I am confident we can continue to be "nice and nerdy", and a great place to work. Thanks again. Steve McElfresh VP People
