Pros

Good Benefits. NYPA is not a bad place to work if you end up in the right department or know people in top management. Regular 9-5 gig.

Cons

CAE is a narcissist, summed up in one word. The company needs to do something about this!! Happy I left before she had a chance to further damage my self esteem or profession. I've seen her fired someone and went to her office and started laughing so loudly, people were really shocked. Do not care how many peoples lives and career she destroys as long as she's benefitting. NYPA needs to do a better job in their recruiting process when hiring senior management.

Pros

Good benefits, good vacation and good flex-time.

Cons

Poor IA Senior Management all the way from the Chief Audit Executive to the Director level. Audit planning is very poor with risk assessment, flowcharting and creating an audit program from scratch every time after being poorly thought out. Fieldwork is just about as smooth, which doesn't say much at all. The internal audit department has experienced unusually high auditor and manager turnover, which is striking for such a company that is well known to care for its employees and provide a great work environment like NYPA. The high turnover must be attributed to said IA Senior Management, which has created a toxic work environment. In hindsight, skipping this internal audit department job would have been a better choice. Avoid this internal audit department unless you like to be micro-managed and play corporate political games.

Pros

Professional atmosphere, excellent work/life balance, great employees, training opportunities, education programs and extracurricular activities are unprecedented, good salaries/benefits, great pension and retirement plan, interesting, innovative, cutting edge work. Very relaxed atmosphere. I LOVE going to work!

Cons

Corporate structure is in silos...individual departments are very self centered which is a problem. Very little interdepartmental innovative collaboration. And, a lot of competition between departments. Many duplicated jobs with same or similar job functions...very confusing.
