Good place to work

Pros

Workplace is tight-knit and friendly, organization is LGBT friendly and provides good benefits, including lots of vacation days. Resources are ample enough that offices are comfortable and budget generally doesn't keep you from getting what you need.

Cons

Policies are rigid, and getting ADA accommodations or FMLA leave can be a tug of war. Higher-ups often get what they want, no matter what objections subordinates raise.

Pros

The New York Public Library offers good benefits to their employees. They are very understanding with using sick days and taking leave.

Cons

There is a lack of transparency in the organization and not a ton of room to grow within the organization.
