Pros

They are a large ecommerce company in LA You can learn what to do and not to do

Cons

- It is a Chinese company in a western competitive environment - The company's income has declined every year since 2008 - The company's gross margins are shrinking every years. - Amazon is its main competitor and it is stomping newegg - the company is run top down. none of the managers have any say. they are all clowns who do what the boss tells them. the boss is not smart and treats people like garbage. - employees are discouraged from making decisions. if they make a mistake they are "disaplined" or fired. - the company discriminates against non-chinese...there are court cases that were settled to this effect. they recently fired or got rid of 10-20 americans...which is most of the staff...the rest are asian - they lie all the time about the company going public...with the results they have they could never go public - the founder wants people to work 12 hour days and not to pay for them. he threatens people all the time. - the management turns over all the time - the staff turns over all the time

Pros

Benefits weren't half bad and you can learn a lot if you get the chance to work with good people.

Cons

Unfortunately, those good people don't have the opportunity to stick around for long. This place drives out top talent. If you don't speak Mandarin, you might as well prepare yourself to be fired or quit on your own before they do. You will most likely never be promoted. And if you are, they'll give you the title but not the pay. It works out if all you're looking for is the title so you find a better opportunity elsewhere. They try to appear as if that isn't the case, but I've seen many departments be wiped clean year after year and only the Mandarin speakers have survived. Their legal department is constantly working overtime because of this. Sadly, the HR department that you could once turn to for help, is not that department any more. Everyone is just looking in their best interest and you'd be lucky if they would do anything for you. The prior team definitely seemed to be much more diligent in accomplishing things for the company. But at this point, turning to that department for assistance is ill-advised. Bonuses for the Product Management team are constantly changing. They make them impossible to obtain. If you hit your numbers for the month, they find a way of cheating you out of the full amount you are owed. Turnover is outrageously high in all areas of the company and the morale is at an all time low. They tell their employees that the company is doing very well, but layoffs seem to occur all the time. Company restructuring is also always going on. Just when you have gotten use to the way things are, a restructure occurs and you are faced with a new set of job responsibilities, and the employees whose responsibility it once was, gone.
