Pros

An okay company if you have zero experience. Decent PTO after 2 years. Decent health insurance policy.

Cons

A very terrible company from almost all angles. Company has been in stagnation for years and continues to sink. Only those that cannot be accepted anywhere else choose to remain. The ones to succeed are the ones that can suck up to the higher managers. Lay offs happen almost every month, causing so much instability and further spiraling down. Incentive goals are always unreasonable. Company doesn't profit due to slim margins which is hard to fix as their business model is outdated yet they refuse to adapt. Employee turnover is high and the company has no properly-functioning HR and does not know anything about employee retention. Out of the company's cheapness, they will assign anyone and everyone to random roles such as CTO to do marketing and CFO to do HR while CEO plays golf and COO thinks of how he will lay off more people.

Pros

* A decent stop-gap measure if you just need a job or a paycheck to tie you over until you get your next job. My advice is to take this job only if you really have to, but I suggest keeping your job search active. This is not a place you can count on staying at for long. * In my department, I usually didn't have to work overtime. * Good co-workers. Most of them are chill. I got one life-long friend out of it. * The work wasn't that hard. You just had to put up with alot of politics and other b.s.

Cons

* This really is the worst company I have ever worked at. I completely agree with all the cons I read. This is NOT an American company. It may be American, technically speaking, but it really is a company run like it's in China. The Chinese business culture is VERY DIFFERENT than American business culture. I won't go into the details of this, but realize the mentality and behavioral norms/expectations are very different than what you might be used to. This company completely totally lacks trust for their employees, especially if you aren't Asian. I worked at NE long before COVID, and I had some coworkers who commuted everyday from the other side of Los Angeles. NE would not even consider letting them telecommute a couple of days per week. So, when COVID hit last year, I laughed because I wondered how NE would handle it. Based on what I've read, they use tracking software, run reports, and still made people report to the office without safety precautions. Let's just say that all these years later, I'm not surprised by this at all! Some things never change! LOL! * Low pay. They pay peanuts. The health insurance was decent. The PTO was awful. You get the fewest holidays - I think it was only when UPS wasn't open. People would come to work sick because they didn't want to use their vacation time lying sick in bed. Who could blame them? I came to work sick too and I didn't care if I coughed and sneezed over everything. I told them to just give people their sick days . . . but . . . of course, you are just a worker bee slaving for the queen, who cares what happens to you. * Low morale environment. There are both overt and subtle messages within the company culture that you don't matter. Colleagues in other departments confirmed this for me as well, so I know it was wide-spread. * Newegg has a bad reputation in the e-commerce industry. Talk to former employees or others who are familiar with the industry, and you'll find that NE is not thought of very highly. I think perhaps they are well-respected in the IT/CE space, but that is it. * Total lack of innovation and absolutely no creativity. This is demonstrated by the ability of new e-commerce and marketplaces that came after NE and even recently that have gained alot more traction and sales. When I left several years ago, I predicted that within five years NE would either be out of business or be even smaller and more inconsequential than it was then. Obviously, NE has not gone out of business, but based on the comments I've read, it seems NE is very inconsequential and was saved only because of the e-commerce boom due to COVID. Just pure luck, I think. They were never willing to think outside-the-box and make the investments needed. During the time I was there 2011-2015, NE really had a chance to become awesome, but they blew it. * Bad management. I don't use that word lightly, but management from top-to-bottom, really is incompetent and dysfunctional. No strategy. Bad communication. Poor social/people skills. No innovation. Don't understand (or care?) about employee morale and what it takes to attract and retain talent. They don't want to deal with the issues/problems affecting the company, but just bury their heads in the sand or try a whole bunch of things without really thinking about the consequences or strategy. It's very dysfunctional. Management also plays things very close to the vest. I also had co-workers in my department who were crying because their supervisor treated them so badly and were having existential crises because of their misery. There was another incident with a relatively new employee. The department/division manager just started yelling and screaming at her in front of everyone because of some mistake she made. The new employee just stood there and took it. Afterwards, they seemed to be best friends, but the rest of us were freaked out and told each other that if that had happened to us, we would have walked out. But that is part of the company culture I'm talking about. Anyway, lots of horrifying stories I could tell. I could tell a few good stories too, but the bad ones really outnumber the good ones. * Politics. Believe what you read in the comments. I've never worked at a place as political as NE. It isn't about skills, qualifications, or merit. It is pure cronyism and politics. There is alot of backstabbing from management (not necessarily from your co-workers. Despite this environment, I liked most of my co-workers).

Pros

Some good people at mid level management that teaches you and try to point you in the right direction.

Cons

Upper management including CEO, CTO, COO and the dozens of VPs that are literary clueless and so call “lead” by knee jerk reactions. Consistently tearing employees down when they fail to meet “expectations” that change on a monthly basis. Management team that love never ending “meetings” and instill an environment of “you are never good enough” atmosphere. Work-life balance has gone downhill since the new Prez, CEO or whatever his title of the month is took over.
