Don't Buy the Hype

Pros

Nice office in a good location. Most people at the company are down to earth. Typical startup perks such as snacks, ping pong, and Friday lunches.

Cons

Lots of politics and employee churn. I think every startup in New York City can say they are an "extremely hungry organization with highly ambitious goals." That doesn't differentiate NewsCred. What separates NewsCred from other companies is upper management's complete denial about the disarray of the company. The company isn't close to profitable and they do a major reorganization every year. This is done to justify that a major breakthrough is just around the corner but there are never any real long term results to show for it. Most people end up leaving after a year once they realize this is a cycle. The few people that stay are either people that have benefited from being in the CEO's inner circle or are an upper management outside hire that is being absurdly overpaid because that's the only what someone would subject themselves to the mess that is NewsCred.

Beware Fake Reviews from Executives

Pros

NewsCred used to be a good place to work. Not anymore.

Cons

Instead of addressing the real and serious problems facing the company leadership spends its time writing fake reviews that try to improve the CEOs ranking. NewsCred has lost its way and the business is suffering. Employee turnover is crazy high and a sign that leadership doesn't care about operating the business, they just want a quick buyout.

Pros

-Amazing sales team that brings in top brands -Good brand-side marketing team, although they've been known to inflate stats -A CEO who is an idealist and cares about his people and company -For the most part, you'll work with fun, hard-working and smart people -Competitive salaries and benefits (they have to be to keep people there)

Cons

-The politics here make Trump look like an angel -Senior management lacks a sense of leadership and outside experience in their fields -The company, in general, lacks focus and is always changing direction -Customer success team is comprised of work mules on the editorial side who keep the services afloat with relatively no support from CDMs -Majority of account managers are young and inexperienced, leading to high client churn -The actual product leaves much to ask for when compared with competitors' -No apparent process, standard of work, or constructive feedback for professional growth from management
