TOXIC COMPANY

Pros

You can drive to work instead of going into the city...and get a free paper. That's about it.

Cons

This was a HORRIBLE place to work. There is very little room for growth unless you're related to someone high up. The people are NOT friendly and borderline racist. This was the most toxic environment I've ever been in and HR does not care to fix the problem. The pay is horrible, the benefits are also horrible. There was nothing good about working here.

Pros

Was given a lot of responsibility in my position. Was able to represent Newsday at networking events, conferences. Newsday is still a quality local product.

Cons

Too much top management. While times were economically stretched, management never failed to over-indulge in conferences, events and self-serving bonuses. Felt pressure to donate to Newsday funded charities.

Pros

My farewell Happy Hour. Then it turned into a shrink session about work.

Cons

Management has no confidence in their environment and even worse, the environment has even less for management.
