No morals - will do anything for clicks and just piggy-back on trends rather than trying to set the agenda. Most of the content is rage-bait and you'll get shot down if you try and pitch anything else, only to see other, more respectable publications covering the same topics you pitched at a later date. The quality of interviews you can land is mixed, because they don't pay for human interest stories and lots of celebrities and public figures won't touch Newsweek with a barge pole. If you try and leave, other publications will judge you on the content you produced while at Newsweek and you'll be stuck working for tabloids. Same goes for relationships with publicists and managers. They cut corners to save money whenever possible (see the move to AI). Expectations and editorial rules constantly change, sometimes without staff being adequately informed and without an increase in pay for the extra work. Editors don't defend staff when necessary, and everyone is out for themselves. Unless you're desperate, it's not worth it.
