Pros

The idea of seeing many technologies and how different groups and teams work. So many projects, there’s something for everyone... you would think

Cons

Why set everyone up for failure with little to no training? Many were promised training and got 0% of that. With a company so large wouldn’t it be good to invest in the new employees? Pushed on projects and carrying no skills in that particular technology? That’s what many face here

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our training program. Keeping your skills current is essential in our business. That is why we have a mixture of formal and informal hands-on training which can be adapted to different learning styles. I would encourage any Nexient employee who would like to study a new technology, develop their skills in another area such as being a Srcum Master, or another area of training to talk to his/her Nexient mentor (sometimes called “coach” or “home director”) about different options that are available.

Disrupting the Services Industry

Pros

- Takes a different approach from the typical systems integrators - 100% Agile, 100% US based, Silicon Valley Innovation meets mid-West pricing - While retaining the company's DNA, organically expanding offerings to meet and get ahead of market demand - Emphasis on incorporating "fun" culture that is tailored to software developers - Regular town hall meetings to make sure everyone is in the loop on company happenings and events - Pay and comp reviews on a regular basis; spot bonuses for well performing employees

Cons

- Not a lot of infrastructure and standards in place for technical training, career advice, professional development, etc - 401K program could be improved (provider is a little outdate and matching would be nice)

Thanks! I completely agree that we are disrupting the traditional services industry, helping our clients grow their revenue with our product minded approach that is 100% built in the USA. I’m interested to hear your perspective on professional development at Nexient. With a ten-step career framework in technology, delivery management, quality engineering and consulting tracks, I think we have a good foundation, but it can always be stronger. The next step will be to strengthen the program for additional specialties such as design, user experience and product management. I will keep your advice in mind, and absolutely continue to push on sales and delivery

Pros

Nexient has a great culture. One that is not only fun but allows each individual to grow their own careers (growing new skills along the way in a supportive environment). I was really surprised when I joined Nexient and saw how folks in the Ann Arbor office build a strong community in and outside of work.

Cons

There is no 401k match, but overall benefits are great.
