Pros
A great aspect of NLUC is that they give you an abundance of PTO even if they make it impossible for you to use it. One of the main reasons why I was so excited about the position initially is because you can obtain your NCT license to take X-rays. My last pro is that most of my fellow techs and providers are great to work with and it makes the 12 hour shifts fly by when you love your team.
Cons
- they do not increase your pay yearly so there is no differential components in seniority - during “slow season” you are constantly understaffed even at busy clinics - Processes are constantly changing and communication is not the best so this leads to a lot of disorganization - they make it impossible to use your PTO because you have to request off 6 weeks in advance. You are able to switch your shifts between coworkers but only if it will not result in overtime, and it’s within in the same week. If you’re an xray tech you can only switch with other xray techs. If you’re the only x-ray scheduled they most likely won’t let you switch at all.
