Pros

Lots of opportunities to explore within the company

Cons

Beware of the President, and the upper management Highly political, and often argues amongst themselves. Some directors are pawns and won't hesitate to steal your limelight for their benefit. They laid off our peers in a flick, as the company's budget remains volatile. If you are in their inner circle, you are good, else you are a commodity.

Pros

Worked on some interesting projects. Like the renewables focus.

Cons

Terrible pay, no real pay increases and no intention to fix it. They don't seem to think IT people can manage projects, so if you are technical you hit a ceiling. Expectation that everyone is available 24/7, but they won't add staff to make it reasonable. Only give enough resources to do the job poorly, then complain that the results are not what they want. Completely unrealistic expectations for timelines and deliverables. Culture drives a checkbox mentality. Just do the absolute minimum to claim you met the ask, then call it done. Leads to huge amounts of technical debt that is eating the company alive.

Pros

Nice Location of Juno Beach Florida. Campus is Amazing with Fitness Ctr, Large Cafeteria with a nice work environment. Decent relocation package.

Cons

Under paid, over worked with no extra compensation, Sub-par medical benefits, fear of always losing your job, 50-65 Hour Work week on 40hr salary, Bosses that are clueless on the ability of the reality of the work they are trying to lead. No tenure in this Planning department. All of the talent transferred or just resigned. All 8 planners that came in at 2018 have ether resigned or transferred into other departments. FPL runs a lean staff and doesn't pay the industry standard salaries to the workers, and also high medical deductibles compared to the industry standards; however, look at the CEO's Salaries. The vacation for new employees is subpar but don’t worry, you will have so much work, it will be almost impossible to use it anyway due to the 150% work load that you will constantly have. The union jobs are decent and protected. I would recommend those jobs over any other positions in the company. The Company will own your sole if you are an exempt employee. Expect to work about 10-15 Saturdays a year for free and long about 10–14-hour days to make your deliverables about 50% of the year. Planner beware. This Department & HR need to take a good luck on how they treat their employees. It has been a sinking ship since 2017 and gets worst by the day. Note: This write up is by a 21-year power plant veteran. Even after being separated from the company for over a year, I am still amazed that corporate America can treat employees so bad. I hope this review can at least help one person to make the right decision so you will not have to go through the misery I endured for 2.5 years.
