Not a happy place to work.

Pros

Very sharp people. Company growing well

Cons

Highly political. Coterie control the departments - Turfs well defined and entrenched. Either you are in the circle or not and if you are not - you will not last. Very bad work-life balance. You are expected to work investment banking hours, working weekends and evening normal for regular accounting/back office jobs . The company culture encourages fear of getting fired in employees (especially for non-patronage). Company is big into outsourcing and automation - eliminating regular business processes very aggressively. So no position is sacrosanct - unless you are in coterie.

Pros

Read below for review. Not much to say here sadly.

Cons

IF you have already taken an offer from NextEra, just ignore this comment and move along because your mind has already been made and I don't want to double guess your self, IF however you have some other outstanding offers and your considering a role at NextEra, I would say PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!! WORST COMPANY ON THE PLANET. Managment treats you like crap and they overwork your for little pay. THIS IS ACROSS ALL DIVISIONS. I know some of you reading this might say "Well, that is your group but my boss is going to be nice!" -- YOUR A FOOL. This is how this company operates, they understaff and overwork employees, this is even as the stock has shot through the roof since 2008, so imagine what might happen if the economy/stock dips a little. Since I arrived, in my first 4 months, there were 2 coworkers that were fired and other employees from other adjacent groups were under review. They review all company groups every year to determine if they should be let go. Turnover is CRAZY. The job I took was of a guy fired two weeks before I started. They intentionally let go of people and demand others to pick up the slack. Please!! I beg you, I get nothing for giving you this warning other than I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through. See the other flattering reviews below.

Pros

Attractive campus, company cafeteria, beautiful fitness center (if you have the strength to go after all the stress and long hours).

Cons

You do not want to be towards the bottom of the pecking order in this company. Especially in any accounting relating area. I'm shocked at the high turnover. The lower you are, the harder those above push on you. Its the tone at the top. Very little regard for the human side. Many managers lack adequate people skills. If you are looking for a place where management treats their employees well, where its fun to come to work, dont come here. Find out about Project Momentum. Its all about the bottom line; not the people. If you do come to work here, plan on it being a short stay (less than 5 yrs like 95% of the poeople you now join the non-regulated side.....maybe the regulated side (FPL) is different. But on this side, bottom line is king.
