Pros
Great pay, great benefits and vacation plan, 3 weeks after 1 year. Promotes from within. No micromanaging, very laid back. Great place to retire from.
Cons
First and foremost the USW Union runs the company and that's no joke. If a supervisor or manager holds anyone accountable the union bands together to force that person out. Management is at their mercy. Because they promote from within (except executive management who generally come from Duke Energy) everyone is constantly moving around and as a result there are no established procedures or rules. Departments push for additional union manpower but their current manpower puts in about 4 hours worth of work in an 8 hour day. They don't put any money into the companies infrastructure or buildings unless it's the generation stations.
