Pros

My Team Leader is awesome. Managers and Directors seem to never leave their offices, make personal connections or demonstrate any real leadership.

Cons

No cost of living increases. Only 3% merit raises. Base no longer competitive

Pros

Pay was very competitive and benefits were some of the best I've had within the regulated utility industry.

Cons

Horrible management (or lack thereof). Consistently couldn't get in contact with my direct manager for multiple (4+) days at a time on critical project approvals. Got berated for non-issues by every level of management. Would be given a project and start work on it one week and be told a week later you were never assigned the project. Absolutely zero management going on here.

Pros

Relatively stable industry, so you can join NiSource and stay for your entire career. But that only means that you'll hate your job for the rest of your life.

Cons

If you want a place to live out the rest of your working career and are ok with being unhappy every day, NiSource is the place for you. If you want to work with talented people, be appreciated, and love your job, don't even think about working at NiSource. You'd be better off unemployed. - Leadership: The most incapable, talentless leadership team you'll find. Constant reorganizations (but never getting it right). Terrible communication from leadership (mostly nonexistent. When you do get it, it's a bunch of gibberish.) - Diversity: Don't believe any stories or awards NiSource brags about related to diversity. They work to make it appear that diversity is important to them, but it is not. They will hire diverse employees who aren't even close to being qualified for their job. - Facilities: Disgusting, smelly offices in Indiana. I hope you like rodents and the smell of port-a-potties. - Employees: There are a couple of gems, but also an overabundance of talentless, rude, smug people. You'll be made to feel like you're bothering people when you ask them to do something that is part of their job. - Training: Development training opportunities do not exist for most people, unless you call watching a YouTube video development. Some people are sent to conferences, but most are told "next year" year after year. If you're already working at NiSource, get out now. You will be happier and wonder why you didn't leave sooner. Trust me.
