Bad company, big turnover

Business Outlook

Pros

A little better than nothing

Cons

No pay raises, big turnover rate. On armed sites you have to purchase your own firearm which they designate. They strive for a culture of snitching on fellow employees. If you don't give proper notice when resigning your last check is minimum wage, you lose $100 uniform deposit and can't work for the company again. Many times you are issued used uniforms. Micromanaging from the owner.

Pros

The only benefit to working for this company was the living wage.

Cons

Never in my experience have I worked for a more veteran unfriendly and unprofessional company. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to work here. Lets start off with the blatant absurdities: 1. Paying 370 dollars for uniforms of extremely low quality, plus shipping upon termination of employment. In my experience uniforms have always been provided at no cost to an employee, except by Nighthawk LLC 2. No vacation time whatsoever. Unless by some miracle you are working on a contract for the government that would provide a vacation, you'll never see nor have one. 3. Unprofessional (Mis)Management. I cant speak for anyone whom works around the Owensboro area, but working on the other side of the state has shown me the extreme decentralization of this company, be that through the revolving door of schedulers, or the non existent managers. Its often up to the line supervisors to fix any and all problems. Typical Workday: I'd typically go in around 1430 (230pm) for a start time of 1500(3pm) because of Nighthawk's policy of being 15 minutes early or being docked a quarter hour's pay. After which I'd do what any other security guard does, and a lot more, for not a lot of pay (Comparatively). At least 4 months out of six that I worked for nighthawk I'd have some problem with the provided uniforms, rips, tears, too long, too short. Eventually I went out of pocket and bought a pair of tactical pants, which goes against the uniform policy that's only enforced when somebody feels like it. Complaints are not taken seriously by any party except again the line supervisors whom are limited in the capacity of things they can do. All in all, it was a typical security experience with atypical management.

Pros

This company is very thorough, detailed, and well-managed. They are very straightforward and flexible about scheduling. It is not uncommon for people to move up the ladder quite quickly with this company. There's plenty of opportunity for overtime if you want it, location/staff pending. Fair, regular hours. The call-off policy and benefits are fair. Overall, the work is not hard. You are treated fairly and with respect. Just do your job, communicate when you need to, and don't quit without leaving a notice.

Cons

This company is not for everyone. Some policies you may want to consider are as follows: - You sign an agreement that if you quit without notice, your last check is docked to minimum wage, and your uniform deposit is not returned. - You must communicate frequently with your scheduler and management. - You must always answer the phone/call back asap. - You must maintain a professional appearance, clean shaven/hair up, clean uniform, no eccentric piercings, etc. - All employees are encouraged to report any wrongdoing by other employees, (Being late, unkempt uniform, wrong footwear, etc.) To management. These policies are well-explained to you at orientation and you sign to agree with them before you are offered a position.
