      Pleasant surroundings, but not much income

      Pros

      Pretty things to look at, ability to make things right for the customer without getting pushback from management, chance to positively impact customers' self-confidence, mostly lovely customers, flexible work schedule, close to home.

      Cons

      Low income (not much chance to take advantage of the discount), returns will about kill you, Anniversary Pre-sale is such a fiasco that I had to leave....it wore me out both physically and emotionally. The company looks a lot better from the perspective of the customer than from behind the scenes.

      Pros

      Commision sales Postive workplace, lots of nice smiling people. This especially includes the vast majority of my customers Recognition-- both public and paid --for successes

      Cons

      Lousy dang retail hours--always working the holidays so-so support for work-life balance frequently at the whim of a department or store manager that may not have good leadership skills little job security low -level of opportunity for growth without moving to a different city

      Pros

      Nordstrom is well known, highly reputable company. Having them on your resume definitely generates a positive start to many interviews.

      Cons

      Commission as a seasonal employee is a lower percentage. The Juniors department is also nothing but a high school girls locker room.
