Underpaid for, horrible hours, training and schedule
Pros
There are none, you can do better than just make a small pile of cash each week. Will help start a family if just out of prison. Communication is Key 🔑
Cons
The list goes on: -long hours -waiting in line to get a call for work -training is at a facility that is not always at your location where you will be or want to be if close to home -where is the management team? -On the job training for me sucked as only one of the Conductors trained me and I went out several times with others, hard to get the same conductor on trips -Can’t really see at dark and dangerous when in the yards about how close the bucket cars get even during the day to adjacent tracks. -Sitting for long hours at beginnings of shifts following the hurry up and wait method -outdated radio communications that doesn’t work when too close to each other on a radio call.
