One of the worst employers I've ever had in my 20 year career
Pros
Literally no accountability for any full-time employee (excluding faculty). For instance, I could straight up disappear for weeks and I don't think anyone would notice.
Cons
The entire university operates under the dysfunction of outdated and archaic policies and procedures. Simple tasks that should take a few hours or a day, takes NC State weeks, even months. Plus, no accountability. It's a miracle the lights are even on inside buildings. What's worse is that the people executing on these archaic policies that were written decades ago are dinosaurs themselves--literally, hired in 1982 and stayed in the same position. So, imagine trying to conduct communications and marketing in 2025 and you have, say "Brenda" in HR and Finance, fighting you on a simple Canva subscription or buying an iPhone to capture content. In my opinion, leaving this job was not about the terribly low pay (that's half-expected in academia), being employed here offered literally zero career opportunities and was a complete waste of time.
