Pros

NONE. There is not one thing that this company does well.

Cons

Their HR practices borderline on illegal activity. I knew my position was being eliminated (they bought out my company) so I opted out of the 401k since I knew I would only be there for a short time. Imagine my surprise when they went against my wishes and started deducting 401k funds from my paycheck. In the 15 months I worked there they did not process a single payroll correctly. They would pay employees incorrectly or payroll deduct for benefits that the employee did not sign up to receive. I caught them adding taxable gross wages to employees without giving them the net payroll for those wages. How is that legal? I caught them sending out incorrect W-2's at year end. The Corporate office would argue with me when I brought up these errors and if it wasn't for my persistence they would not have corrected them. They would also not send in your 401k deferrals or match for months. When they finally did get around to submitting those funds most times it would be for incorrect amounts.

Thank you for taking the time to review NorthStar Anesthesia. Our 401k is audited annually and new payroll management was implemented in January 2016 to address some of the payroll issues we had been experiencing. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve as a company.

Pros

Growing due to financial backing of investor TPG. Clinical opportunities are plentiful. Good insurance and benefit offerings; however, compensation is below market. If they aren't successful at winning a bid for your business, they will simply buy the company who gets the bid.

Cons

They are bidding and buying companies when they can't even staff the contracts they already have. As a patient, I would be concerned because they use alot of contract doctors, and they don't really care about their background or performance, they just want the warm bodies to administer sedative drugs. Very disengaged C-Suite executives, with excessive drinking (fully stocked fridges in corporate office for libations - its 4:00 somewhere), and spending habits, and no accountability.

NorthStar Anesthesia is committed to being the greatest anesthesia care community in America. In order to do that, we appreciate feedback as provided in this review. Feedback is helpful to improve on what we are trying to achieve and allows us to remain steadfast in always improving. As part of our mission and culture, we put a tremendous effort into our onboarding process to ensure our teammates are an extension of our core values which include being accountable, striving for excellence, mutual respect, practicing leadership, compassionate care and knowing that together we can do anything. Our clinicians are all fully licensed and trained to ensure patient safety and positive clinical outcomes are the number one priority. To maintain a positive, fun environment, we ensure competitive salaries and benefits are offered at or above market value. Our corporate office has additional perks such as an in-house workout center, showers, break room and fun room where team meetings and after hour events can take place after 4 pm. Alcohol is never encouraged and only optional when it does not impede our work standards. The executive leadership takes their roles very seriously as role models and leaders with the utmost responsibility in living our core values by leading by example. We encourage dialogue at monthly town hall meetings and have anonymous suggestion boxes around the office to solicit feedback. Again, while this review is not what we like to see, we do appreciate the ability to respond and use it as a means to improve. Chris Riopelle, CEO

Pros

This is a great company that cares about its employees. It is very team oriented and a wonderful group of people to work with. Good benefits and company match for the 401(k) plan, workout room and showers as well as a fun room!

Cons

The company has grown tremendously on the last 2 years, but is still operating like a small company. The processes and skill set of the employees need to looked at to run more efficiently.
