Pros

they have a good network of people and it is easy to talk to management. The IT department listens to what employees have to say also. Salary is decent, hours are very laid back, everyone leaves by 430pm.

Cons

not that challenging, becomes a little boring at times.

Pros

Northern Trust is a very well respected organization with long history and many areas of practice. It is a great place for entry level person to learn and many people have careers spanning over 15 years at Northern.

Cons

Leadership and the entire company culture are very conservative, too many layers of management, review process is not very transparent, low level of reward for highly skilled/productive current workers while high compensation to attract people from outside the firm. This has created some discontent for employees. High productivity and sometimes long hours are expected but over-time (or compensated overtime) was discouraged.
