Pros

They work with your schedule. Personally, my managers are very approachable. 80% of the MD's are nice to work with. The benefits package is very nice.

Cons

They operate on the defensive. They keep on adding additional tasks for nursing staff to complete but our time is already limited. Some of their initiaves seem useless.

Pros

There are many job advancement opportunities. Supervisors will take the time to talk with you and care about where you want to go in the future. There is no cookie cutter track to advancement, if you show the characteristics of a leader and prove you can lead without having a leadership title, you can move up.

Cons

NSLIJ has their own corporate university, but not many people know about it or how to sign up for it's courses.

Pros

Benefits are excellent and the company gives its employees some excellent opportunities, like a corporate university and a MBA program paid for entirely by the company. Never had a problem taking time off even for stupid reasons. Most managers do genuinely care about their employees.

Cons

VERY hard to advance unless management likes you; getting management to like you has nothing to do with your work ability. Applying for jobs within the company is worthless because your resume goes through a scanner and HR never gets back to you. My division of the company doesn't seem to know what to do with young people who want to learn and keep moving up.
