Pros

Large network throughout LI and expanding.

Cons

Northwell Health’s Talent Acquisition team is one of the the slowest, lackadaisical recruiters around. They have no regard for any candidate nor do they prioritize you. It takes weeks to set up an interview and they don’t bother to contact you to let you know whether you got the job or not. They leave candidates in limbo and could care less about you. This is unacceptable this day in age when most companies prioritize candidates and make sure to follow up.

Pros

Northwell hospitals seem like a much better place to work.

Cons

Northwell does not intervene in their physician partner practices. The PTO is awful for office staff and our supervisors force us to use PTO if they decide to close early for the doctor’s dinner parties or computer maintenance. The supervision is terrible and there is no room for growth. I’ve been applying to positions in which I am qualified for about a year, and I haven’t heard a thing. Human Resources is clearly uneducated and they tell your supervisors everything you tell them (in a supposed confidence) with no remorse which makes the work environment really uncomfortable.

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that you haven’t been experiencing the culture and values over 85% of our employees are. We have been working hard to incorporate our employee promise, mission, vision and refreshed values throughout all of our hospitals and facilities. We will pass your feedback on to the appropriate people.

Pros

There are still some good people who are loyal and put the success of the health system first, over their personal advancement.

Cons

Terribly infested with individuals who value loyalty to themselves by their staff over dedication to the success of the health system. You WILL be punished by some people in upper management for doing the right thing according to stated corporate values...or for just having values. The culture is rapidly becoming noxious in some key departments: much back stabbing, little helping others and much ecstatic adulation when other employees "appear" to run into issues; much favoritism and a lot of pointing the finger at others. Also, it appears job security is slipping away - MANY people act as if you can be terminated for anything at any time.
