Pros

-good place to work if your exit field wants to see a certain tier of school on your resume -better funding than most lower level schools, but not perfect

Cons

If you are a minority being recruited as part of a D&I initiative, beware. Do not expect to be seen or heard by leadership once they get you in the door. Understand that every lab runs like an individual business, so if you end up in a lab that violates your rights as an employee, you will be largely on your own to deal with that. Expect to actively fight against being worked to death and fight for your right to work from home during a pandemic. Don’t expect any sensitivity or understanding of social issues and how that may impact your work life. Understand that like everything else, you will be on your own to handle that. Wipe your tears between meetings and get back to work. If this is worth the opportunities on the other side for you, I understand. Just know what you’re getting yourself into.

Pros

Good benefits, pretty view of the lake.

Cons

Culture of elitism and out of touch administration.
