Terrible Upper Management and Leadership Team

Pros

GSI Group has a very dedicated workforce who strives to succeed at every step despite a caustic leadership team.

Cons

The upper management team (VP and up to CEO) has created a very caustic and intimidating work environment which has steadily eroded any sense of pride and motivation. People tend to avoid eye contact and even take alternative walking routes to avoid this team. The leadership team has also tended to eliminate the "good" leaders in the organization. These are the ones who understood the work force, could motivate good teams, and promote a team effort to accomplish goals. In their place, they have hired management with the same caustic approach to leadership. The voluntary exodus of good employees who do not want to work in this type of culture has already begun and I foresee it continuing unless this terrible culture is reversed.

Pros

GSI has a good benefits package and has competitive salaries. There are multiple divisions, with a number of opportunities in each for operations, product management, and engineering.

Cons

GSI has become more corporate in recent years. These days, the bottom line is sometimes put ahead of the employees interests.

Pros

no insane overtime employees get along well with each other

Cons

Management treats employees like commodities, hired and fired like short-order cooks Management milking core groups to fund fooling acquisitions Hiring binge on drones, i.e. product marketing managers while coring out engineering Only go here if you’re desperate
