No Leadership

Pros

The company was founded to improve the lives of people suffering from brain cancer.

Cons

There is no leadership. The COO, CEO, CFO, Chairman of the Board and the rest of the senior team work together. The other recommendations paint an accurate picture of the company culture. Bullying and public humiliation is the norm, there is zero work life balance and HR is so out of touch they promote the stock options as a big benefit. The stock has lost its value since the company went public. I would not recommend this company unless you like to work in an environment where no one knows what they are doing, there is no leadership and the hours are unreasonably long. The pay isn't fair market either.

Pros

The company helps sick people which is really great. Met some nice people here from other departments. Overall most of the people in the office want to be there and are willing to help.

Cons

As mentioned in the pros, overall good moral across departments, however BEWARE of the accounting department. If you're looking to work very long hours (the controller basically lives at his desk and is often found there at 4am) then this be the place for you. Zero work life balance, the idea of working from home is frowned upon even after hours (no such thing as after hours!) additionally most of the group is super socially awkward and unfriendly. Morale is low, also various rumors around the office that females that were hired to this team typically feel uncomfortable and leave...... and turnover speaks for itself.

Plunging Stock Price Just Says it All

Pros

This is a palliative treatment but will never cure GBM. However, as a Durable Medical Equipment it provides a measure freedom for the patient to live their life. No one wants to see anyone suffer and should the product provide a scintilla of hope for patients and families, the oncology society would benefit.

Cons

The plunging of the stock price is a sobering one yet a worthy and accurate reflection of the competency of leadership at the helm. There is a stark difference in the espoused ethos by those that are in patient support (support centric) vs the management of the business itself. Once a 12 year startup now publicly traded (FDA approval and release of stock price simultaneously which is questionable). The environment is geographically challenging because each "C" demanded to work from their respective corner of the world, also each respective group is a clique that moves from one company to the next. Like hires like and NVCR is no different. Witnessed and been subjected to sociopathic, passive aggressive and dismissive behavior toward peers, subordinates, vendors, consultants etc. The leader sets the tone and the tone of leadership which can be verified as a pattern through other reviews is that of inexperience and incompetence. The COO is the most likable and employee centric however struggles to make decisive calls resulting in bad hires of said poor senior leaders. The cycle of dysfunction in leadership is so textbook its humorous.
