Pros

Working at a startup comes with wearing lots of hats and having a lot of responsibility. There are a lot of opportunities to learn new skills, which is my favorite thing about Nutrafol. The marketing team is very close with each other, which has made working from home a smooth transition. We have a lot of meetings and a busy work load, but its a pleasure to work with other team members. The new CMO helped us focus on our responsibilities within one month of being hired. We now are a dream team with clear direction and goals to meet each month. WFH perks have been AMAZING. Couldn't be more grateful. When we are in office it's work hard, play hard. Nutrafol has fun and we love a themed party.

Cons

With a growing company there is a lot of organization and process that still needs to set between cross functional and leadership teams. We are extremely fast paced. Be ready to work hard (it's easy to work long hours because most employees are very passionate about their work and have trouble disconnecting). The interview process can go very quickly without properly vetting new talent.

Pros

The calibre of individuals within this organization is unparalleled. I was inspired by the raw intelligence paired with strong emotional intelligence. This is an organization that expects excellence but also empathizes with the natural peaks and valleys of being human and needing to balance the two. I felt supported and respected by this team in a way that I have not felt previously experienced in my career. My experience and perspective were both sought out and respected, which created an ecosystem where thoughtful debate and discussion were celebrated. Also, management is not afraid to make calculated bets and investments which support taking a healthy and exciting business to the next level with the right level of support.

Cons

It is a growing startup which comes with a unique set of challenges (wearing lots of hats, evolving priorities), but the pros outweigh the natural growing pains of doubling and tripling growth in a short time period.

Pros

The most frustrating part is that the product itself is genuinely good.

Cons

The most disorganized company I've ever worked for. Leadership lacks both managerial experience and basic leadership skills. Project management is virtually nonexistent because even the smallest decisions require endless rounds of approvals from people who have nothing to do with the project, slowing everything to a crawl. As a result, projects, questions, and simple copy that should take a day end up dragging on for months or years, especially for larger-scale decisions. The company has kept a small group of people in leadership roles since the beginning, and instead of bringing in experienced managers, they continue to create new management titles for the same individuals. For a majority of them, this was their first professional job, and it shows. Career growth is nonexistent, and the culture was equally disappointing. People throughout the company are unnecessarily rude and cliquish, making it difficult to get responses or get anything done. HR is no help; they will just join the gossip. They're shockingly disconnected from current digital trends and online culture (and it's only gotten worse). There was an overwhelming focus on creating lengthy reports and presentations that never translated into meaningful action. Innovation is slow, trends are often ignored, and customer feedback rarely seems to influence decisions. They'll go under eventually, and it will entirely be their management team's fault.
