Pros

Nyman is a small company located in Philadelphia. Due to their size, they are able to form strong, personal connections with each of their employees. As a former Speech-Language Pathologist at Nyman Associates, I have only the highest recommendations and regards for any candidate interested in applying there. I was extremely fortunate to have landed a job at Nyman immediately after graduating from grad school. It was a very difficult decision to leave Nyman after so many years due to their excellent support system in place, sense of community, reliability, flexibility, consistently positive environment, networking opportunities, and how well they facilitate professional growth. Staff members at Nyman undoubtedly value the best interest of their employees. They acknowledged my interests and strengths by finding job placements that matched what was best for me. After I was assigned to new placements, my supervisor reached out to me via phone or met with me in person to discuss my progress and comfort level at new placements. In addition, they made sure that their facilities were safe, reliable, and had adequate working conditions for every employee. They always visit their facilities and meet with staff before signing a contract to assess these areas. Managerial staff always encourage us to voice our concerns and take immediate action to resolve issues. For example, at one time, I was working in direct service for another organization and only getting paid for seven hours per day, which prevented me from working full time. Nyman contacted the financial department at the contracted company and was able to get my schedule increased to 8 hours per day. They are also extremely flexible – if you are unhappy with a placement, they will first try to resolve the issue at that specific placement. In the event that the issue is unable to be resolved, Nyman will find you a new placement. Their staff always does their best to make themselves available to meet as soon as possible if needed as well. Also, I really appreciated how the company supported me with resources and supplies for any and every placement. Resources included iPads, testing materials, and therapy bags/ materials. If they do not have a specific resource or supply, they purchase it! They also supported my professional growth by offering free CEU courses by coordinating and hosting their own seminars. They provide and encourage opportunities to advance in your career all of the time. If you are interested in a different field area, they will find other specialized Nyman employees that you can shadow and train with. They also offer competitive salaries with excellent benefits! If looking for something new or just starting out, I highly encourage any speech therapists to apply to Nyman Associates and further your career in Speech-Language Pathology!

Pros

I've worked for Nyman about a year, and they've been fantastic. They consider their employees to be assets, so they really work to keep you happy and as busy as you want to be. I've worked for a variety of agencies, and Nyman is the only one I would ever recommend. The pay is competitive, and since they only work with speech therapists, they really understand us.

Cons

They're local-only, so you have to stay in the area if you want to work for them long-term.
