Pros

In our area the pay is outstanding, and until this year the benefits have been extraordinary. It is union labor, and we just joined the steel workers union.

Cons

Until you can bid for a day shift only job, you will be on a rotating shift. 1st shift (5 days on 2 days off) rotate to 3rd shift (5 days on 2 days off)rotate to 2nd shift (5 days on 1 day off). That is the order of the shifts that you will rotate through as a shift employee.

global leader in glass container manufacturing; innovation center availability (a pilot plant to accelerate manufacturing processes); good community reachout program and sponsorship/donations to local NPO; safety aspects are great

Cons

high turnover rate (real talents dont seem to stay); too much politics in some departments; subjective performance reviews; glass industry is in general declining especially to PET and Al cans; need disruptive innovative solutions; lack of "research"; employees are "busy" but underutilized

Pros

O-I is the global leader in glass container manufacturing, making it one of the Fortune 500 companies. That being said, it offers a variety of career opportunities across a wide spectrum of industry fields.

Cons

Communication across departments is deficient. It is a larger corporation and it should have a more thorough communication approach, especially with locations outside of the US. I worked in a department that was very chaotic, not well managed and where communication was very poor. There was not a work system/logic applied for performance expectations.
