Good Salary but Managers are Too Self Centered.

Pros

The pay and benefits are great. The working environment is about average, but the people are friendly and hardworking. Leave, both vacation and sick, are not tracked and are basically trusted to employees to maintain (usually with iversight by managers).

Cons

Managers are often not qualified for their positions and, from my experience, spend too much of their time finding others to blame for things that go wrong within their department. It often seemed that no one was willing to take responsibility for things that went wrong, and a lot of things went wrong. Managers are given too much free reign and often undermine their subordinates. As a result, the company has an unusually high incident of employee civil rights lawsuits.

An incredible opportunity to learn an entire manufacturing process from start to finish. You will be responsible for every aspect of a production line's operations from manufacturing to quality to shipping. Benefits are outstanding and salary is competitive.

Cons

Glass factories run 24/7 and you are on-call at all times. Expect to field phone calls and technical support questions at odd hours, with frequent night/weekend work when things are not running smoothly. 6 AM - 5 PM typical workday in a hot, loud heavy manufacturing setting.

Provides those entering into the organization with a great amount of responsibility, a quick way to build up managerial and leadership skills

Cons

Not enough forward, strategic thinking. Not much evidence of succession planning or investment in the future. Too much of a reactive culture vs a proactive culture.
