Pros

You get great experience with some of the sickest of the sick. Great learning environment. Great for handworkers. If you can work here for 2 years, you can handle anything else anywhere else. I had great coworkers who really understood teamwork.

Cons

Not great if you don't like to be moving a lot. Not competitive pay. New grads are getting paid more than experienced nurses. Promises made, but not kept. My unit manager has not figured out how to retain nurses yet, young and old. High turnover.

Thanks for your positive recommendation. We agree that OU Medicine is an organization where our health care providers have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and knowledge that will benefit them for years to come. Since we divested from HCA in 2018 and became a non-profit healthcare organization, we have been working on ensuring competitive compensation with the Oklahoma City market and making adjustments as necessary. Our primary focus is to ensure that our employees are compensated equitably and appropriate to market, and we are continuing to find new ways to increase employee retention, including upgrading and adding new benefits for 2019. We feel that the future is bright at OU Medicine and we anticipate continued growth and improved service to our patients, employees and our community. We are thankful that you are part of our journey and wish you continued success.

Pros

Benefits are nice, tuition reimbursement, opportunities to move, lots of continuing education

Cons

Advancing may take time, vision seems to be really focused on resident training and research moving away from quality patient care first.
