Pros

good mangers that don't micro manage you. working in the outpatient areas gives you standard hours while working in the emergency room you are bound to crazy shifts. company offers paid holidays.

Cons

no room for advancement be prepared to stay in the same role until someone retires or leaves. poor benefits poor pay paid holidays but you must use out of your PTO bucket rather than the company paying for it.

Pros

Associated with prestigious university?.. Wide variety in patient population I'm really having a hard time with this category Health insurance seems to be slightly cheaper than previous hospitals I've worked at

Cons

Having to park at an off-site parking garage and take the shuttle to the hospital- which adds about 15-20 minutes on to the beginning and end of your day... Very poor teamwork ( at least on my current nursing unit) RN's have to take a class for everything..literally everything it seems. Poor communication between residents/fellows/attendings and nurses- no teamwork! Poor communication between residents and other residents on their own team! Ridiculously outdated charting system All electronic orders-RN's are not allowed to enter orders per policy. All orders must be entered by the MD's unless they are off campus. Many of them do not follow this rule and put the RN's in difficult, irritating situations. Never have enough equipment or supplies. Constantly nagged by management to work overtime. I've literally gotten 4-5 texts regarding working overtime in the same day. Nursing units set up horribly with tube stations half way down the middle of each floor- not nursing friendly! No lab techs, nurses must draw their own labs on ALL nursing units. Has the cold, impersonal feel of a large company. Employees are definitely just numbers to the higher ups. Paging system sucks. I've waited for up to 7 minutes to talk with operator in order to page a doctor. The online paging system is difficult to use since there are so many different "teams" of residents. Nursing staff have to wear trackers on their badges that say where they are located within hospital and keeps track of hand washing. Is proper hand hygiene not everyone's responsibility? Why not make the docs wear them too?? Hardly ever see management. Outdated equipment I.e. feeding pumps POU supply rooms very overwhelming. Way to many supplies crammed in one area in no meaningfully organized way.
