Leadership needs to rebuild trust and culture

Pros

The other individual contributors were the highlight of my experience. Teammates were collaborative, supportive, and willing to help each other despite broader team and organizational issues.

Cons

I believe leadership to be the root of most of the company's current challenges. Over the past 2 years, the culture has steadily deteriorated due to poor decision making and a lack of transparency. Communication from the executive team is virtually nonexistent on critical matters, and when employees seek updates they're often met with annoyance rather than clarity or support. A major turning point came when the leadership team abruptly laid off a widely respected co-founding engineer and their team, someone who had dedicated 5+ years to the company, without any prior notice or severance. It has become increasingly clear that leadership, particularly the CEO, views employees primarily as a means to a successful exit rather than as valued partners in the company's growth. This mindset has eroded trust across the organization. There is a glaring lack of accountability throughout the business. When issues like missed sales targets or operational missteps occur, responsibility is rarely, if ever, addressed at the leadership level. Additionally, leadership has repeatedly ignored upward feedback, and efforts to raise serious concerns, including multiple attempts to report inappropriate and unprofessional behavior by leadership in the Data org, have led to no meaningful action. Leadership often speaks of "loyalty" as a core value, but in practice, this means that as long as someone is "loyal" to their manager and leadership, they are protected regardless of their behavior or performance.
