I worked at a property where OVG took over the contract after working at that facility for 5+ years. The transition was shaky at best. Many tenured employees were not asked to remain in their position. One was told that they aren’t qualified for the role they occupied for 10 years. When they came in, they purposely changed systems that had functioned for years, staffing dynamics among departments, vendor choices despite longstanding relationships, and office assignments(?). The overall impression among many who had seen contract transitions previously was very negative. Job security went out the window for everyone. OVG came in acting like they knew more about the property than the well established employees who worked there for a long time. The relationship with labor for events that took place and the event management suffered greatly. The general manager who was inserted is an insufferable tyrant who’s catch phrase is “if it ain’t broke, break it.” He needed to change everything to feel like he had a hand in everything. He could not accept well functioning systems that were in place prior to his arrival. Everything needed to change and be his. He micromanaged everyone severely, though he spoke at length about wanting people to make their own decisions. High levels of hypocrisy. Textbook narcissism. He cared only about the company, not the people.
