Pros

Good company atmosphere. People in the company enjoy their job and have a passion to improve both personally and their work. Vast assortment of people so their is a group or groups for everyone. Very good social activities and very social and friendly environment. Willing to send developers on conferences, including Droidcon (London) and Google I/O. Experienced developers with a passion for their chosen field. Working with exciting new technologies. Good Location outside of the Expensive London area and good transport links to London (half an hour to London City Centre). Health Insurance and money off Ocado Shopping.

Cons

Wages, for being so close to London the wages are not as competitive to where people use the company as a stepping stone for London work. Company do come across as short sighted at times and are a bit recluse with some future internal changes. Working across different countries can cause communications issues at times as you cannot just walk over and speak to someone.

Pros

There are some really motivating projects at Ocado, including open source project for education Code For Life and innovative technology, as well as a good culture thanks to the brilliant and awesome people we get to know and to work with here. Autonomy and flexibility really help foster innovation, and we have regular team building events. The new office in Trident place is really good too.

Cons

The location, Hatfield, is for me the biggest drawback because it's a bit isolated compared to bigger cities and usually makes for a long commute.

Pros

Great opportunity to work alongside some incredibly talented people. Culture as a tech business is maturing all the time. Decent new offices, light, airy and spacious that enables strong collaboration. High levels of autonomy and trust allow you to get on with your job without hindrance. The work is interesting and challenging - fast-paced and frequently changing to keep you on your toes - an environment that suits self-sufficient , self-starters!

Cons

Career opportunities a bit limited in some areas however initiatives are in hand to improve this. Pay and benefits are not the best but getting better. Lack of structure, process and systems are seemingly refreshing to start with, but a bit ad hoc in some areas can cause frustrations.

Really pleased to read the great feedback for all the improvements that have been taking place. A lot of hard work has gone into everything from office space to promotions to culture, so it's great to see it's making a difference.
