Pros

Ochsner has a great benefits package, lots of discounts throughout the area for employees, and (depending on the department) lots of room for career growth

Cons

Strange holiday system, well below average pay for many positions, Shuttle system that adds 30-40 minutes on to my day every day. "Nonprofit" system that is run exactly like a for profit.

Pros

Teamwork between staff nurses is fantastic. Continue enhancing telemedicine technologies.

Cons

Working in the ED, I felt that we hustle the patients around in an effort to see more volume. The patients are dissatisfied and so are the employees. 12 hour shifts stretch to 14 or 16 hours and there is rarely even time to eat. Some say this is just "modern nursing," but I feel this type of overwork is inexcusable.

Pros

OMCBR is a family oriented hospital to work for. We are big enough to care for a large patient load but not so big that you forget the names of people you work with.

Cons

nursing shortage but this is nation wide
