Pros

Office Depot offers some job security. If you are lucky enough to be full time, your hours are rarely cut.

Cons

Very little one on one growth potential, very little mentoring or encouragement from upper manager and assistant managers. You have to be a self starter.

Pros

Salaries are competitive, benefits are decent, facilities are very good, work is challenging and interesting, coworkers are (mostly) friendly and competent with an outstanding work ethic, overall strategy is clearly communicated, and the grass is not always greener...

Cons

As with any large company there are turf battles, internal politics, information hoarders, leaders who have never spent time in the trenches, micromanagers, absentee managers, too much indecision, poor tacticians (so we know where we want to go but how do we get there?) and a communication gap at a personal level between just about the entire upper management team and anyone below VP level which can lead to rumors, gossip, and paranoia.

Pros

Long-time Associates are great to have Customer Base

Cons

If you don't sell warranties, you WILL NOT LAST! You are pressured and threatened if you are not selling. DMs have become micromanagers with the amount of pressure on all levels of mgt. High turnover - Pay is not good for hourlies A lot of last minute changes - Senior Mgt. seems to throwing things to the wall and be ready to adapt to sudden changes Way Too Many Conference Calls More about the business now, not employees Eliminated 401k, stock purchase, tuition reimbursement and manager raises Extremely Political
