Pros

EffectiveUI has great and personable folks who do wonderful work. The designers who do the work, are really specialized and are able to adapt to solve very complex problems. This company is a great place to learn about design, but there is no future here.

Cons

Management and especially upper management is lacking significantly. Their CEO is a very fluffy motivator and many VPs have backstabbing agendas that make the company disorganized, stressful and weak.

Pros

I've racked my brain and can't think of many pros, other than thanks to the U.S. Constitution slavery has been outlawed so that you don't have to work here. Though working here certainly feels like a punishment and penance for a terrible wrong I must have done in a former life.

Cons

Bad managers. Bad leadership. Bad managers. Bad leadership. Did I mention the bad managers and bad leadership? A vicious culture that services clients poorly. Overpriced PR. Employees are treated like dirt. Salaries are low, people are leaving or getting laid off, the place is collapsing.

Pros

Some great people to work and learn from. Benefits and vacation are good. The name Ogilvy looks good on a resume when you leave.

Cons

No culture anymore, just words. It's who you know or who likes you that gets you promoted or increases. They talk about listening but senior management doesn't acknowledge or respond to concerns. HR is even worse. If you don't have a family and want to work excessive hours, nights, weekends, holidays then Ogilvy is for you. If this is your first job it tends to tarnish your view on large companies. I went to a smaller boutique firm where they actually care about the people, their career and culture. Until WPP actually cares and gets rid of all the senior managers, and the office heads, it will always be a dog-eat-dog company.
