Pros

Small hospital, you know everyone. Radiology/Ultrasound are right down the hall from ER. Good coworkers overall but some duds. A lot of peds exposure. Medsurg was usually nice about us dropping off patients at bad times.

Cons

Nurses are 5:1 with patients and you almost always have a psych patient, no designated area for them. ER was either a ghost town or a jungle. It was so bad when it was bad. Security was somewhat far from ER and would take a minute to get there if it was getting wild. Grady ER has the most psych patients per OhioHealth ER’s I believe. No triage nurse, no clerk so nurses have to set up all transport which is a ton because the hospital was so rural. Most docs were chill but some were always irritable.

Pros

No real secret that medicine is taking a turn for the worse every year. I like my job but management has to go. No real personalization- everything is cookie cutter and if you don’t fit in, you’re the problem. Because everyone else conforms to expectations; not me. I want to hold my employer to higher standards. So I will be moving on once I secure another job. It will likely be the same for a few years til I can transition to DPC. Care model is horrible, out dated and persecutatory for physicians and nurse practitioners and physicians assistants alike. And don’t call us “providers” when our training and skills are NOT the same. pros: I have a job.

Cons

See above statement for cons.
