Pros

- Flexible hours - Little to no red tape - The company is passionate about keeping up to date with latest technologies - People are proud to work here but we're not blind to our shortcomings - Great perks, lots of free food! - Everyone has a voice in the product, even brand new employees

Cons

- There have been times when communication about what various teams are working on has been lacking. But there's already been improvement with a new demo day initiative so people can show off what they've been tackling

Smart and young (age wise) company

Pros

OkCupid was a very cushy place to work, pays very well, good benefits, and start-upy perks (free breakfasts, once-a-week lunch provided by the company, etc). There are a lot of smart people working at the company.

Cons

There seems to be a lack of communication, organization, and management. The lack of any real project management makes a lot of people completely unaccountable for their work. I don't think you can expect designers and developers to manage themselves.

Pros

the release cycle is fast - tweaks can be launched minutes after you think of them your work at OkCupid really makes a difference in the world coworkers are smart and easygoing the office is an open floor plan, so communication is easy you get to work on some pretty cool technical challenges the development framework includes the best HTML templating language I've seen and allows you to avoid less pleasant aspects of C++ like manual memory management management provides helpful guidance when you need it without being micromanaging

Cons

the open floor plan means a little less privacy the custom development framework means a learning curve when you start the development process is relatively unstructured. This is bad if you need a tight structure (like hard deadlines) to get your work done.
